Why I built this
Only outcomes survive
Only outcomes survive. The reasons do not.
The thinking behind a decision lives on unless somebody writes it down extensively, which asks people to be most diligent at precisely the moment they are most busy. Knowledge-sharing sessions are supposed to catch what documentation misses, but they happen after the development, by which point the reasoning has gone cold.
What is left is a new joiner asking why it was built like this, and nobody being able to say. They get the outcome and have to reconstruct the reason.
Agents make this worse, because they read outcomes fluently. Give an agent a codebase and it will infer a rationale, confidently, and the rationale it infers was very often never true.
The idea
Custody, one layer up
At work I built the boundary that lets agents reach data without anyone losing custody of it. Quorum is the same problem one layer up: agents reaching decisions without anyone losing custody of those. A codebase is a body of decisions, of which the code is the most recent expression, and the rest of that body is held in people’s heads until they leave.
Architecture
How it is put together
One MCP server. Reads on every task, writes on every decision, holds conflicts before they land.
The problem, condensed
Three things that break AI-assisted teams
Knowledge leaves with your engineers
the reasoning behind a decision outlives nobody
Design intent, not a measured result.
AI agents contradict each other
two reasonable patterns, months apart, silently synthesised into incoherence
Design intent, not a measured result.
Requirements get silently removed
a business decision disappears one small change at a time
Design intent, not a measured result.
